Attitudes and perceptions of farmers on the African grey parrot in Oba Hills National Park, Osun State, Nigeria

This study is focused on people’s perceptions and attitudes the population decline of African Grey Parrots (Psittacus erithacus) in Osun state, Nigeria. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire. The area comprises 234 farmers from communities area. were analyzed using descriptive statistics, T-test, Pearson Correlation, Chi-square test. results revealed that 78% respondents male, while 22% female. Majority (51%) between age group 41-59 years, Christians (54%), indigenes (76%), Nigerian (69%). As study, 77.5% familiar with Parrot erithacus). showed great knowledge bird ecosystem services rendered, thus they have positive perception attitude about conservation. recommended conservation club be initiated by forest management which should include youths, adults, school teachers order to enlist program.
